Our original review of Flash Furniture’s mesh high-back was one of the harshest this site ever ran — six specific complaints, from a decorative headrest to a seat cushion that ripped — and time has delivered its verdict a different way: that mesh high-back is gone, its listing lineage now serving Flash’s Whitney LeatherSoft executive chair instead. The brand’s better chairs survived and thrived. So this refresh does three jobs: preserves the warning for used buyers, documents the morph, and points at the two live alternatives — one of them Flash’s own — that we recommended all along.
The complaints, for the record (and the used market)
If you meet the old mesh high-back secondhand, our findings still apply: a headrest that decorated more than supported, a seat pan short on depth, mesh strung too tight for comfort, “adjustable” lumbar that adjusted nothing, a cushion with a ripping habit, and overall construction that earned the word “poor.” The two things we liked — clean modern styling and a decent height range — were real but outnumbered. Price any used unit accordingly, which is to say: low.

The old product link now lands on the Flash Furniture Whitney high-back LeatherSoft chair — a different, padded executive design with 4,300 owners at a solid 4.3, sold and shipped by Amazon in thin replenishment stock. It shares nothing with the chair we panned but the brand and the height; as budget executive seating it’s a legitimately decent buy, reviewed by its own owners rather than by us.

Our original “buy this instead” aged perfectly: the mid-back mesh task chair is alive with a five-figure owner base at 4.2, sold and shipped by Amazon — proof that Flash can do honest budget mesh when the design stays simple. It also inherited the Kolliee’s constituency when that rival died.
BestOffice mesh chair
The second alternative survives too: BestOffice’s mesh swivel chair holds a buy box with 4,800 owners at the price of a family dinner — the same calibrated expectations as our BestOffice review: adequate, cheerful, temporary.
Overall
The rare review where the market agreed with us by deletion. Skip the old mesh high-back even used unless it’s nearly free; buy the mid-back Flash or the BestOffice for the budget brief; and when the daily hours justify it, the real answer starts in our under-$500 rankings.
